Pinewood receive the International Standard for Information Security Techniques and Management - the first within the DMS sector - in recognition of the measures taken to protect sensitive customer data it holds.
Pinewood has become the first company in the dealer management software sector to obtain an internationally renowned award, in recognition of the measures taken to protect sensitive customer data it holds - a standard some leading financial institutions have only recently obtained.
The ISO 27001 accreditation - the International Standard for Information Security Techniques and Management - is designed to "provide a model for establishing, implementing, operating, monitoring, reviewing, maintaining, and improving an information security management system" says awarding body The International Organisation for Standardisation.
Gaining the award has meant Pinewood examining all the processes used within the company and by its customers closely, amending them where needed in order to meet strict requirements. Despite previous security measures being the strictest within the dealership industry, ISO 27001, taking hundreds of hours to achieve, now ensures that Pinewood confirm to the highest security standards available within modern business today - sharing this standard with key financial institutions and governmental entities.
Pinewood managing director Neville Briggs explained: "Essentially, the accreditation confirms that information we hold on behalf of our customers has been made secure to a high standard, with no access or usage by any other entity.
"All of our dealer management products are now sold on a software-as-a-service basis, meaning that we hold essential information on our servers rather than our dealer customers storing it on their own machines, so having an extremely robust approach to security is essential.
"ISO 27001 means that our customers can have the highest degree of confidence that the data that we hold about their dealerships and their customers is protected from malicious attack and in the unlikely event of a system failure. This further strengthens our offering to our customers, with ISO 9001 quality standard accreditation and our Microsoft Gold Partnership; customers can be assured that their data is secure, that we operate to the highest quality standards, and that Microsoft values us as a close partner in using their technology within our products."
"Within Pinewood we strive to provide our customers with the highest quality solution possible. Our previous security processes were unrivalled within the market, but wanted to ensure customers received the highest security standards available. We've done that. It is clear to our customers that we continue to lead the dealer management software market"
