Our long experience of developing dealer management systems and the close working relationship we share with our customers means that all feedback and research is automatically directed into ongoing product development. This has enabled us to challenge ‘industry standard’ DMS capabilities and to come up with increasingly nimble ways of approaching the management of data, the integration of customer relationship processes and to develop the most flexible reporting tools.
During the period 1999 - 2000 we looked at the shortcomings of existing dealer management systems, including the software we were already taking to market. We felt it was time to leave behind established DMS technology and introduce the very latest innovation as part of our own development strategy as a Microsoft Gold Partner.
We had originally provided our DMS product to customers via tape or hard copy disks with associated upgrades for on-site servers. However we took the decision to develop our strategy as a provider by switching from boxed products running from local servers to software-as-a-service (SaaS) able to provide a richer and more flexible user experience. The development journey is an ongoing one – over the last five years Pinewood has re-defined the delivery of dealer management systems into retailers; providing a route into the very latest technologies with no additional cost for upgrades. Providing our Pinnacle DMS as a SaaS product means that the latest enhancements and upgrades go live online automatically. This has enabled us to deliver 6 major upgrades in the last year without our customers being charged for the latest versions.
