During your placement year, you will develop a broad range of skills, whilst being given the responsibility you need to thrive. You can expect to receive both on and off the job training, mentoring throughout, and the opportunity to develop your professional and commercial experience.

Based at our head office at Birmingham Business Park, you will spend 12 months building your knowledge across different areas of the business.

We offer lots of support and provide a structured learning plan to ensure our placement students gain the skills they need to succeed. You can look forward to:

  • A four-week business induction and training schedule. During this period, you will meet key people, build relationships with your mentors, and receive in-depth training on our customers and product
  • Spending 3 months working as a Customer Support Consultant. You will be working directly with our customers to ensure sure they are getting the most out of Pinewood DMS. You’ll also be responsible for supporting them with any training needs, queries, or problems
  • 2-3 additional rotations in a team of your choice, gaining exposure to multiple areas of the business
  • Placement achievement plan to guide you through the year, to ensure you are consistently learning and developing your skills
  • Extra projects such as presentations and dealership visits

During your placement year at Pinewood, you’ll get the opportunity to apply the knowledge gained through university into real-world scenarios. You’ll be exposed to multiple areas of the business and will gain important workplace skills that will support your long-term development.

We don’t expect our placement students to know everything. For us a positive attitude, solid communication skills and a genuine desire to develop your current skillset are key. In addition to this you will need:

  • To be a 2nd year university student studying a business-related topic
  • A strong interest in developing a career in a business and/or IT focused role
  • To be a ‘people person’ with an ability to build working relationships with both customers and colleagues across the business
  • Strong attention to detail, and an ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines

Business Development & Deployment Specialist

Pinewood Technologies is currently searching for ambitious and enthusiastic graduates to join the team, training to become Business Development and Deployment Specialists. You will be responsible for building and maintaining strong relationships with our customers, and ensuring they experience a smooth transition to our award-winning software product – Pinewood DMS.

Working within a team of BDD specialists you will be involved in a range of implementation projects including the delivery of training sessions, presentations, and providing support during live weeks.

Your responsibilities will include: 

  • Working closely with our customers to understand their business needs, then mapping these needs against the functionality of the DMS to ensure they are getting maximum value from our product
  • Implementing Pinewood DMS into the dealership, whilst keeping the Project Manager and BDD Leader up to date on the implementation status
  • Identifying any early risks and flagging potential issues before they occur
  • Carrying out regular training sessions with clients over the phone, online or onsite, as well as promoting the use of eLearning and our in-house training videos
  • Ensuring all documentation is kept up to date including – meeting reports, CRM system maintenance, and the preparation of contract’s and proposal documents
  • Developing an understanding of the franchised car market and keeping up to date with the latest industry news

About you

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop a career in the IT and/or Automotive industry. The ideal person for this role will be a natural people-person, with an ability to build strong working relationships with both customers and colleagues across the business.

You will also need:

  • A positive can-do attitude and a results-driven mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to understand the needs of the customer
  • A high degree of self-motivation and ambition
  • An education to degree level – any knowledge in accounts is highly desirable but not essential
  • Previous experience providing customer service in a B2B or B2C environment

Project Delivery Manager

Pinewood Technologies is currently searching for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join the team and help create products our users’ love! We are currently looking to hire a number of Project Delivery Managers to ensure our new product features are delivered on time and to the highest quality.

Working within a team of PDMs and alongside software developers, technical leads, and product owners, you will play a vital role in the design, delivery, release, and continued aftercare of all product features.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Becoming an expert within your product area. You will build a solid understanding of the key features and benefits of your module, as well as understanding our customers’ needs, and mapping these against the product to create effective solutions
  • Working with Product Owners and Lead Developers to understand upcoming requirements, shape and define project scope, and prioritize timelines and tasks
  • Continually track milestones and project progress against the plan, and ensure internal stakeholders are aware of any important factors affecting features or release dates
  • Using feedback and telemetry to ensure ongoing care and quality of products
  • To promote close communication and collaboration between product and software development through project planning and grooming sessions
  • Providing documentation, release information, and videos to help promote and support the product

The ideal person for this role will be an excellent communicator, with an ability to collaborate and build relationships with stakeholders across the business. You will be results orientated, work in an organized manner, and have a self-driven mindset.

You will also need:

  • 1-3 years experience in managing projects from concept to release- ideally in a software setting
  • Any experience working in a DevOps environment with Azure DevOps is desirable but not essential
  • Any experience working with Application Insights is advantageous, but again not essential

Deployment Specialist (Sweden)

Pinewood is currently expanding its award-winning UK software business into Sweden. Following successful implementations with a number of dealer groups in the Nordics, Pinewood is looking to expand the team in Sweden to facilitate further growth.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic, and motivated individuals to join the team to support this growth, and help make this new business a success. We are looking to hire a number of Deployment Specialists to implement, train, and consult our customers on our award-winning dealership management system.

Operating remotely within Sweden, you will work closely with our customers and end-users to make sure they are getting the maximum value from the DMS, and are using the system to its full potential.

  • Becoming an expert on our product, and working closely with customers to promote the use of Pinewood DMS within their dealership
  • Planning, managing, and executing implementation plans by analysing the client’s requirements and mapping these against the functionality of Pinewood DMS
  • Creating long-lasting customer relationships and traveling regularly to client sites, ensuring they enjoy a smooth transition to Pinewood DMS. You will carry out regular training sessions, resolve any issues, and provide ongoing support to ensure our customers are continually getting the most from our system
  • Producing accurate reports on meetings, project plans, and providing a monthly activity report to your business leader

Pinewood Technologies is currently looking for a number of enthusiastic and driven individuals to join the team as customer support consultants. You will be responsible for supporting our customers and ensuring they are getting the most out of our industry-leading dealership management system – Pinewood DMS.

As a support consultant, you will assist our customers with basic training needs, guidance, and help troubleshoot and diagnose any problems they encounter.

Working hours are 37.5 per week on a three-shift rota (7am-3:30pm, 09am-5:30pm and 10:30am- 7pm) Weekend and Bank holiday work is also expected and works on a rolling shift pattern.

  • Taking incoming phone calls, emails and online chats from our users with queries regarding the system
  • Ensure all customers are dealt with in a timely manner, and dealing with existing cases promptly
  • As your knowledge of the system grows, you will contribute to our internal knowledge base
  • Attending training as required and progressing through our training academy

You can expect full on-the-job training, and the opportunity to progress through our support training academy, to further build your knowledge and career. Our training academy works on a belt system, and each belt achieved comes with a wage increase- giving you a clear progression path.

The ideal person for this role will be a recent graduate looking to move into the technology and/ or automotive industry. You will need to have excellent problem-solving skills, a positive can-do attitude, and the ability to hit the ground running. This role is currently fully remote, so time management skills and the ability to self-motivate are essential.

Candidates will also need:

  • Education to degree level – Any IT related subject is desired but not essential
