Undergraduate Placement Year

The Software Developer Scheme is a one-year programme training to become a Full Stack Developer. You’ll be given an experienced mentor who’s also completed our placement scheme, along with the tools and resources to make a real impact on the business. Expect to work on meaningful projects as you become a fully-fledged member of our team!

Many of our undergraduate placement students have returned to us as permanent team members upon completion of their degrees.

We’ll introduce you to the major languages our developers work with, including C#, HTML, CSS and JavaScript, in addition to the frameworks we use, including ASP.NET, ASP.NET Web Forms and Xamarin Forms. Our experienced team of ex-placements will help you to understand the general concepts faced by a successful developer – giving an insight into problem-solving, debugging, unit testing, Web API’s and using source control.

During your placement scheme you can expect:

  • A full 3-week business induction, and training schedule – Bring yourself up to speed on the technologies we use, learn about the wider business and meet key people
  • A structured learning checklist to guide you through your placement year – monitor your progress and ensure you are reaching targets and goals
  • Regular technical workshops on topics including CSS workshops and advanced Javascript training
  • Opportunity to take on and own an entire project from design to release
  • Peer to peer learning and continuous support from a dedicated mentor
  • Pluralsight license

  • Self-starter with a desire to become a full-stack software developer

UX Front-End Placement Year

Do you want to become a web design and front-end development professional?

During your placement year at Pinewood Technologies you will have the opportunity to reach that goal. You will be fully integrated into our talented UX team, and will work on real projects that make a direct impact on our business. You can expect on the job training, mentoring throughout, and a great opportunity to develop your technical and commercial experience.

Based at our head office at Birmingham Business Park, you will spend 12 months working and learning alongside a dedicated mentor within your team, and you can expect to develop your skills in the following areas:

  • HTML
  • CSS/ SCSS
  • Javascript
  • Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator, XD
  • Responsive Web Design
  • UX and Web Design principles
  • Wireframing and prototyping
  • Atomic design principles

Graduate Developers

Pinewood Technologies is currently looking for a number of enthusiastic graduates, to join the team and work through our Graduate Software Development Program, to become Full Stack Software Developers. 

As a Graduate Software Developer at Pinewood, you will be fully integrated into one of our talented development teams and will work on projects that make a direct impact on our business, and that of our customers. You can expect on the job training, mentoring throughout, and an opportunity to vastly develop your technical and commercial knowledge.

Working under the guidance of our experienced development teams, you can expect to build your knowledge in the following areas:

Net/ ASP.Net core, C#, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, JQuery, SQL, Visual Studio, Web API, Unit testing and GIT.

There are also opportunities to develop your skills in MVC and Xamarin Forms.

  • An analytical mindset with solid problem-solving skills

  • The ability to work independently and part of a team- This role has a large aspect of remote working to it, so having the ability to keep yourself motivated is a must
  • Any previous commercial experience, either through a placement or previous role is a plus, but not a necessity

Senior Developers

As a Senior .Net Developer working within one of Pinewood’s development teams you will be developing enterprise-level Data-Driven systems, primarily using C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core, and SQL you will also have a solid understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript/ jQuery.

Alongside your technical abilities, you will be delivery focussed in your approach working in the full software development lifecycle from designing features all the way through to supporting your work after it has been released.

You will have a clear progression path and may choose to formally mentor more junior members of staff in the future, however, whilst you are becoming familiar with our product and development culture you are just expected to be a team player and help your colleagues where possible.

As a Senior Developer, you will enjoy getting your hands dirty with database development and would be comfortable writing queries, performance optimisation, table design, stored procedures in T-SQL. You will also be involved in higher-level activities such as designing features and assisting in leading grooming sessions whilst thinking about the bigger picture and how your work could have on the wider product.

Everyone in Pinewood Technologies PLC’s development team, from our Technical Director to Junior Developers undertaking their first role in the industry are hands-on in relation to coding, everyone is encouraged to be curious and keep up to date with the latest developments in the industry. We have recently adopted GIT and .NET Core alongside continually improving how we do things better. Working hours: 37.5 hours per week

Salary: £45,000 – £60,000 per annum + benefits

As a Senior .Net Developer within our team, you will be tasked to deliver quality code on multiple workstreams under the guidance of your Lead Developer. “My placement year was an excellent experience and one of the best decisions I made whilst at university! I worked with an inspiring group of people, from which I learned a great deal from, gaining the confidence to deliver projects.

I worked on a host of projects that are now directly used by the major global automotive manufacturers. I also had the opportunity to develop other skills, taking part in regular workshops which were hosted for the placement students. This included spending 3 weeks as part of the UX team. My experiences were instrumental in my growth as a full stack developer as I was given the opportunity to greatly improve my front end knowledge.
