Integration with Microsoft Outlook included in latest version of Pinewood’s Pinnacle
Integration with the Microsoft Outlook calendar is the key feature of a new release of Pinewood’s Pinnacle dealer management software
The enhancement – thought to be unique in the DMS sector – means that events planned in each dealer’s Outlook calendar are now viewable in the Pinnacle diary while customer events booked in Pinnacle will also prompt reminders in Outlook.
The integration also means that dealers can manage Pinnacle appointment details and reminders on mobile devices such as smartphones, as well as iPads and other tablets.
Neville Briggs, managing director, said: “This is a major enhancement that we have been working on for some time. Running two diaries side-by-side in Outlook and Pinnacle unavoidably creates problems for dealers and is something that has been a structural weakness of every DMS system.
Because Pinnacle is provided by Pinewood to dealers on a cloud-computing basis, with all software and data centrally hosted, the changes including Outlook integration happen automatically and require no intervention from dealers.
Neville added that this approach was a departure from the old fashioned, server based DMS systems of the past, which would have required time-consuming manual updates.
He explained: “The cloud model allows us to constantly develop and adapt the software in a way that just would not have been possible in the past when our DMS systems were server based. In those days, updates required disks and manual installation, which was onerous and haphazard.
“What this means for dealers is that their DMS is continually being updated to meet changing market conditions and regularly being enhanced to allow them to make the most of every market opportunity that is open to them.
“2012 has proven to be another pretty difficult year for dealers and being able to provide new releases with a high degree of regularity provides a genuine business advantage.”?
